Hertfordshire Lip Enhancement
Of all the filler treatments requested in our clinic in Hertfordshire, lip enhancement or lip rejuvenation is one of the most popular.
With lip rejuvenation Belotero Balance is used to subtly plump ageing lips. The outline of the lips can be improved and any fine vertical peri-oral lines running down onto the lips can be smoothed out using a “blanching” technique, depositing tiny beads of dermal filler under the wrinkle.
With lip enhancement Belotero Intense is placed to enhance the volume of the lip, creating fullness. Clients often express concerns and fears of overdone results or looking un-natural. The key to filling lips is to be aware of the smaller subunits or zones within the body of the lip which require improvement. As opposed to the poor technique of “filling like a sausage”.
How long will the results last?
Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide normally found in the connective tissue of the body. As it is a naturally occurring product the body gradually breaks the dermal filler over time. With lips as they are constantly moving, smiling, talking and eating, optimal results last 3 – 4 months. However, for some clients this can be up to 6 months.
Your Aesthetic Specialist Lucy will see you for a face to face consultation. Time to discuss options available and any questions you may have. Questions will also be asked of you, regarding your health and any medications you may be taking.
After this initial assessment you will be provided with information booklets to take home and read.
When you feel you are well informed you are then able to provide consent. A consent form is completed together with a medical questionnaire.
A local anaesthetic (numbing) cream is applied and then the skin is cleaned and prepared using antiseptic. The dermal filler itself contains lidocaine anaesthetic to lessen the feeling of the needle insertion and ensure the procedure is as comfortable as possible and not painful.
The best thing about dermal fillers is that the result is instant. Arnica gel is gently massaged into the area to reduce swelling.
You will be asked not to wear make up for 12 hours following your procedure. No sunbeds, saunas, or Turkish Baths for a week afterwards. Any swelling over the course of the next 7 days can be reduced with ice packs.
All Belotero hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can be reversed by injecting with hyaluronidase. This enzyme breaks down the dermal filler.
Swelling post procedure can occasionally appear uneven, resolving in a few days. There is always when using a needle the risk there may be bruising. If you are susceptible to cold sores you may have an outbreak. Prophylactic medication can be provided to prevent this. Other rare side effects include infection for which antibiotics would need to be prescribed. And very rare, when the injection blocks a blood vessel, this is treated with immediate administration of hyaluronidase.
