Frequently Asked Questions

How long will the results last?

Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide normally found in the connective tissue of the body.  As it is a naturally occurring product the body gradually breaks the dermal filler over time.  With lips as they are constantly moving, smiling, talking and eating, optimal results last 3 – 4 months.  However, for some clients this can be up to 6 months.

The Procedure

Your Aesthetic Specialist Lucy will see you for a face to face consultation.  Time to discuss options available and any questions you may have.  Questions will also be asked of you, regarding your health and any medications you may be taking.

After this initial assessment you will be provided with information booklets to take home and read.

When you feel you are well informed you are then able to provide consent.  A consent form is completed together with a medical questionnaire.

A local anaesthetic (numbing) cream is applied and then the skin is cleaned and prepared using antiseptic.  The dermal filler itself contains lidocaine anaesthetic to lessen the feeling of the needle insertion and ensure the procedure is as comfortable as possible and not painful.

The best thing about dermal fillers is that the result is instant.  Arnica gel is gently massaged into the area to reduce swelling.

Post Procedure

You will be asked not to wear make up for 12 hours following your procedure.  No sunbeds, saunas, or Turkish Baths for a week afterwards.  Any swelling over the course of the next 7 days can be reduced with ice packs.

All Belotero hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can be reversed by injecting with hyaluronidase.  This enzyme breaks down the dermal filler.

Which Dermal Filler Do You Use?

Which brand of dermal filler often comes down to practitioner and client personal preference.  Some clients request a particular brand of dermal filler and if the dermal filler is FDA approved and is composed of hyaluronic acid Lucy is open to client preferences.  Please note some brands may have to be ordered in and pricing may vary. Please contact for a quote.
Within each brand’s range are different types / consistencies which determine where the dermal filler can be used on the face and the injection technique employed.
There are several good brands of dermal filler available on the market. Juvederm in particular has the most excellent syringes.  The line markings on the side of the syringe are without a doubt the best on the market. It is also very helpful that they spend a lot of money to display full page advertisements in women’s magazines so that clients know to ask for their brand.
The best dermal filler is Belotero. Stunning results can be achieved with Volume using a micro-droplet technique in the lip for super enhanced, long lasting lips.  A very unique volumising dermal filler you are able to use with a very small 30G needle.
Similarly, Belotero offer Balance a dermal filler which can be placed very superficially under wrinkles (unique on the market) to soften and plump out the effects of ageing.
The majority of clients explain their needs and concerns and Lucy will advise in her professional opinion the best approach and dermal filler best suited for their requirements.
However, Lucy recognises the “expert client” who has had multiple treatments understands their face and has a specific regime in mind.
A good consultation is a learning process from both sides.
